Post #6 Sam Jr December 20, 2024

…………. update dated 12/27/2024 adds no new data, simply removes the “stickey notes”. “My, my – good help is hard to find these days!”

Merry Christmas to all! ….. Trusting this finds ya’ll in good health and ready to enjoy Christmas 2024. We had a great Thanksgiving with Susie’s son, Mike, who surprised us with a visit.

I wrote a few lines of this post prior to Thanksgiving, when I ran onto the the following 19th century hymn which portrays “Thanksgiving” perfectly to me. The *addendum reflects an historical blessing, as I see it, and a plea for God’s intervention. My being “late” does not change the value of good advice so I offer this Thanksgiving prayer.

With Thankful Hearts, Oh Lord We Come

With thankful heart, Oh Lord we come, to praise Thy name in grateful song; …. Accept the offering Lord we bring, and help us loud Thy praises sing.

We thank Thee, Lord, for daily food, For plenteous store of earthly good; …. For life and health, we still possess, With house and home so richly blest.

We thank Thee for this goodly land, Where freedom reigns on every hand; …… Do Thou, Oh Lord, our country bless, With heavenly peace and righteousness;

*We thank Thee we have never known, invasion of another throne, ….. Forgive our sin, refresh our mind, may the USA endure as Thine? ‘

We thank thee for Thy blessed Word, that to our souls doth life afford; ….. Help us it’s message to receive, and from the heart its truth believes, Amen

Have a Joyous Thanksgiving!

            This final post simply adds to the story of the children born to James & Mary Henderson, who faced the hardship of all pioneers. Just as today the siblings of James and Mary Henderson were asked to contribute to the family history. The first two children are covered in the 5th post – in this post we begin with Nathaniel Henderson, the 3rd child of James Henderson, pioneer (1819) to Greene County Illinois.

Edwin Henderson is our branch of the James Henderson family.

It has been enjoyable to make this available to others. As crude as the presentation might be, it is the historical testimony of our bloodline and will be of much interest to the few who investigate and take interest in their ancestry.

This Post #6 is taken, for the most part, from the book titled;

“Sketches of Thomas White, of Ohio (son of Mercy Shreve and James White) His Children and Grandchildren”, printed privately by L P Allen, Greenfield, Illinois, 1897.

A second book utilized for this effort is available to the public at the following website; https://wmsonton.com/1aa-Books/Henderson.ancestry-by_LPAllen/LP_Allen-pdf.html

….. This site will be available until August of 2025, Enjoy and have Wonderful & Safe Merry Christmas!
